Christians Living The Double Life

As a Christian, are you living an authentic life with a whole heart towards God?  If not you might be living a double life – one in public and the other in private.

To be double minded is the justification of two behaviors in the mind. James 1:8 says a double minded man is unstable in all his ways. The Urban dictionary, defines double life as one being the true life, one which everyone sees, while the second life is the secret life, the essence of the person is displayed and is generally revealed to spouses, children and close friends or sometimes to no one at all.

Jesus has a name for people who live the double life, “whitewashed tombs” The teachers of the law and Pharisees would often say one thing and live the other, Jesus says “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs, which looks beautiful on the outside but on the inside are full of the bones of the dead and everything unclean. 28 In the same way, on the outside you appear to people as righteous but on the inside you are full of hypocrisy and wickedness. (Matt. 23v 27, 28)

Unfortunately, this kind of life which seems enticing for a moment, or for years will at some point surface, bringing disappointment and sometimes death. The bible in 1 John 1:18 say “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.  What is done in darkness could potentially ruin your future, so confess it. Confession cleanses the soul.
